Listen to the music play

Harmony, connection, and the freedom to let every song find its own way.

Blue Moon Alley is a Wisconsin-based Americana and rock ’n’ roll band built around the musical partnership of husband-and-wife duo Spencer and Emma Houghton. Since forming in 2016, Spencer and Emma have spent the better part of a decade playing hundreds of shows and developing a sound that lives somewhere between rootsy American songwriting, classic rock ’n’ roll, and the freedom of an open-ended jam.

The current Blue Moon Alley lineup features Spencer Houghton, Emma Houghton, Kyle Galinski, Kyle O’Hara, and Ben Netzel, with father-and-son musicians Jamie Cash and Brenan Cash, along with Spencer and Emma’s three-year-old daughter, Ember Houghton, frequently joining the Blue Moon Alley family on stage. That extended musical family is a big part of what Blue Moon Alley has become: a group of close friends and family who listen to one another, leave room for the music to move, and make every show a little different from the last.

Drawing inspiration from the Grateful Dead, The Band, Van Morrison, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and generations of American roots music, Blue Moon Alley moves easily between soulful vocal harmonies, storytelling, guitar-driven rock ’n’ roll, and exploratory improvisation. Songs can stretch, change shape, and find their way into unexpected places, but melody and connection are always at the center.

The band released its debut album, Love in This Life, in 2023 and has been featured by Relix Magazine as a rising artist. Along the way, Blue Moon Alley has shared bills and stages with artists including Midnight North, The Sam Grisman Project, and Dave A’Bear & Friends.

At its heart, Blue Moon Alley is about family, friendship, and a shared love of making music together. Whether the band is playing a small room, a festival stage, or welcoming familiar faces to sit in, that sense of connection is always at the center of the show.
